Winetasting at Broughton House
On 4th November 40 guests enjoyed a Fairtrade winetasting event in the lovely surroundings of Broughton House, with much serious thought but also a great deal of hilarity! A short video showed how the Co-op Faritrade premium paid for a new water facility for the 381 inhabitants of Tilimuqui a small village in Argentina with access to clean drinking water on a daily basis for every home. Thank you to those at Broughton House for hosting the event.
Congratulations to all involved! Kirkcudbright now has Fairtrade Status
The Kirkcudbright Fairtrade Directory has now been published!
The pamphlets are being distributed around Kirkcudbright by the volunteers of the Kbt Fairtrade Town Group. They are being placed in public places and are being delivered to the shops that stock Fairtrade goods. There will be a Fairtrade stall at the Garden Fair this weekend, come and see us there!
Exciting news - we have got the funding to produce a little brochure showing the fairtrade outlets in Kirkcudbright! We are hoping to have the brochures ready to issue by the end of June and are planning to promote fairtrade at the Garden Fayre on the10th and 11th July.
We had 3 new members join us at our last meeting and more are always welcome. You can join us at our next meeting 7.30 Thursday 1st July at the Roman Catholic Church Hall (behind the Library). Meetings are short and informal - we look forward to seeing you.
Members of the Kirkcudbright Fairtrade group are currently visiting shops who sell fairly traded items. This is to find out which items they stock in order to compile a Kirkcudbright Fairtrade Directory. The aim is to publish the directory in time for the summer season in order to let visitors know what is available as well as our Kirkcudbright residents.
