Scottish Youth Parliament

The Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) was created in 1999. It was established for young people (aged 14-25) to allow them the chance to come together to debate and discuss issues affecting young people across Scotland. At present the SYP has around 150 elected members, made up of young people from all over Scotland.

The SYP aims to be a national, co-operative voice for young people in Scotland.

Elections are held every two years and in November 2009, young people in Dumfries and Galloway elected four members they wanted to be in the Youth Parliament.

Please go to the council website to see who your representatives are and also visit the official SYP website for more knowledge about the parliament.
