Public Transport Timetables

Buses are Kirkcudbright's only available form of public transport, but the services available are reasonably frequent. The bus stop for through buses is in Johnston Place, St Mary Street opposite the Johnston School. The nearest railway stations are at Dumfries, Lockerbie and Carlisle.

Using the Traveline Scotland website will allow you to plan your journey to anywhere in the UK using all forms of public transport. It's comprehensive and easily used.

If you would prefer to print out Stewartry bus timetables to refer to, they are available to download (as PDF files) on the Dumfries and Galloway Council website. Click here to go to the relevant page.

For anyone who likes to travel independently but cannot manage the bus due to disability, there is a taxicard scheme available. Click here to visit the relevant page on the Council website.

And of course, if you are over 60 and the holder of a National Entitlement Card you have access to the Scotland-wide free bus scheme. This card gives people aged over 60 and disabled people access to free travel anywhere in Scotland (as well as to/from Carlisle) on local buses and long distance scheduled coaches at any time of the day. Full information is again held on the Council website.
